Pay up, Stockton radio guy, and feed the birds - By N.L. Bobblehead

I was reading Benton's Blog on the Stockton Thunder website and read about a bet Scott Benton was trying to make over a meal.

Sure, Tim Statezni of the Condors Sales team bashed Stockton recently. Who doesn't, especially when talking hockey?

In his piece, "Don't Feed The Birds," Benton writes,

Me thinks the birds nest in "CondorsTown" is getting hungry. But it's not my job to feed them.

Some folks may want a blog brandishing Stockton's landing of three All-Star Games in a calendar year, abundance of a waterfront events center/new arena/new ballpark, why Stockton outdrew Bakersfield by 33,554 fans in the 2006-07 ECHL year, or that Stockton is closer in proximity to San Francisco/Sacramento than Bakersfield is to its closest major market - Los Angeles.

No sir, not here.

But in the professional sports world, such bold statements must be backed up by a bold will to accept a friendly challenge. Should the Stockton Thunder defeat the Bakersfield Condors in the season opener or the season series, I wonder if Tim will take up an offer, on me, for a meal on the loser?

Guess we'll have to just wait and see.

A friendly challenge? Always good. I just hope the radio guy paid his bet...
